Autumn Birdbath

Nature Photographers Network Editor's Pick
The oldest award winner in the collection is also one of my favorites. Taken in 1996 on my first autofocus SLR and one of my first ventures with Fuji Velvia slide film. My wife found the monarch in the back yard, probably spent on the autumn migration. I collected up a bunch of leaves from around the neighborhood, the feather from the ground under one of our bird feeders and the pine cone. I set them all in one of our bird baths with a little bit of water and shot away. Large prints of this show amazing details and color and always bring a smile.
